Fredericksburg – 15 miles to the southeast. HEB grocery store, Walmart, museums, wineries, shopping, restaurants and two quilt shops (One Quilt Place, Things In A Room).
Llano – 30 miles to the north. Lowe’s grocery store, two quilt shops (The Country Quilt Shop, Buckaroo Blankets), the Llano River, Dollar General, shopping, restaurants, a town square, winery & distillery, Deer Capital of Texas.
Mason – 30 miles to the west. Museums, the Seaquist Mansion, a town square, restaurants, wineries, shopping, etc.
The community of Cherry Spring was established and named by Sarah’s great-great grandfather, Diedrich Rode, in 1852. One of the historic Gillespie County country schools, Cherry Spring Schoolhouse, is within short walking distance where the community has a finger food potluck and domino night the second Friday of each month (visitors welcome!). Should you want to worship on Sunday morning, Christ Lutheran Church is a short 5 minutes away on Cherry Spring Road.
